Earl Middlemiss

Earl opened The Sport Loft in 1972, but his love for skiing began at age 6. He studied geology at the University of Utah to better understand the mountains he so loves.

Earl taught skiing for the Alf Engen Ski School at Alta from 1967 through 1978. He remembers skiing Snowbird before it was Snowbird when he tired of crossing his own tracks at Alta.

Earl's boot fitting expertise has made countless feet happier throughout his 40 years in business. His personal touch and superb sense of customer service set Earl apart from most other boot fitters.

When not fitting boots or skiing, Earl loves to spend time on his road bike and with his grandchildren.

Chris Middlemiss

Chris was introduced to skiing at age 13, but really fell in love with skiing in the form of a red ski-sweatered young ski instructor— Earl.

chris

She taught skiing at Alta from 1969 to 1976. Her favorite memory is of skiing with Alf Engen and thinking, "This guy skis like a freight train!"

Chris is our CFO, accountant, buyer extraordinaire and lead female-specific ski tester.

Jeremy Middlemiss

As the son of two ski instructors, Jeremy began skiing at the age of 5. For the past 11 seasons, he has studied and fit boots for The Sport Loft. He studied bio mechanics and orthotics in Voiron France and continually updates his training.

When not working, Jeremy is most often spending time with his wife and two sons—motorcycles and sailplanes take the place of skiing during the snowless months. Naturally, Jeremy expanded bio mechanical alignment and orthotic services to include hiking, running, biking and adventure sports.

Now in his 16th year at The Sport Loft, Jeremy loves anything that "goes fast!"

Marc Lund

Park City native and lifelong skier Marc has been with our technical service staff for four years. Marc grew up chasing powder in Park City's Jupiter Bowl and will expand his horizon's at Alta this season.

"I was proud to join The Sportloft Team because of the family owned atmosphere and because it feels like a real ski shop."

Marc has been pursuing technical development in his skiing using the resources available at realskiers.com.

We congratulate Marc and his beautiful wife Laura on their recent marraige.

Joe Kallis

Although born in Hawaii, Joe's love for the mountains has brought him to Montana, then Colorado and finally this fall to the Greatest Snow on Earth. Joe has been skiing since the age of three and has taught at Montana Snow Bowl, Crested Butte and Beaver Creek—his favorite—and plans to continue his teaching career as time permits. When not skiing, Joe enjoys hiking, mountain biking, rafting, fishing and travelling.

We are proud to welcome Joe with his winter sport and customer service expertise to the Sport Loft Team.

Rich Shaw

Just talking to Rich about skiing is enough to get most people excited—Rich is always excited about skiing! When asked what he likes to do when not skiing, Rich replies, "Think about skiing!"  He is more enthusiastic about the sport than many people half his age and his passion and experience are valuable assets; especially his fresh view of new technologies.

Rich has been skiing since he was 6 and has worked on both the retail and manufacturing sides of the ski industry for more than 25 years. His favorite skiing memory is of heli-skiing the Wasatch and he has skied between 50 and 100 days each of the past 20 seasons.

While he daydreams of skiing, Rich also manages to support his wife and four children.

Lindsey Middlemiss

Jeremy's wife Lindsey sits behind the scenes maintaining the books and has kept our clothing lines fresh and new for many years. She manages our advertising and email newsletters.

Lindsey's other full time job is raising her two sons.
